Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy that utilizes the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behavior.
The process itself aims to alter our state of consciousness in a way that relaxes the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focusing the subconscious part. This heightened state of awareness - reached using skilled relaxation techniques - allows the therapist to then make appropriate suggestions.
The hypnotic state allows a person to be more open to discussion and suggestion. It can improve the success of other treatments for many conditions. Hypnosis might also be used to help with pain control and overcoming habits, such as smoking or overeating. It also may be helpful with severe symptoms or crisis management.
A hypnotist will mainly use relaxation and hypnotic suggestions to address the behavior(s). This may work for a few days to a few weeks. However, if the compulsive eater, say, encounters a situation where someone they love deeply threatens to leave, they are immediately back to consuming their addictive substance of choice. The pattern has not been changed or healed.
With hypnotherapy, the facilitator can regress the client to childhood, discover these patterns and change them deep within the subconscious mind. The new affirmations and suggestions will stick for more than just a few days or weeks.
Absolutely not! Your subconscious mind will never reveal anything you either do not want to share or do not feel ready to address.
No way! The truth is, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and I simply facilitate the process. You are in complete control the whole time! If you ever felt the need to come out of hypnosis, you would simply need to open your eyes!
You will be fully conscious at all times, remembering the entire session and waking up feeling rested and refreshed. It is truly a unique and wonderful experience!
I would love to hear it!
